Sprinkler
Gabe's 2nd Birthday
Gabriel turned 2 this past Saturday and we had a small family celebration...his big sister will be 9 later this month and was included in the festivities.Gabe enjoyed playing in the sprinkler and in his play house...his PawPaw and I found this on the side of a street where someone was throwing it away, after watching it for about a week my DH loaded it onto the car roof and to Gabe's it went.He calls he Gaby's House.

Oh So Sweet Treats
My granddaughter has recently started a wheat/gluten-free diet. Its been difficult to find her treats that she likes.I recently found http://www.ohsosweettreats.com and she also has a blog:
http://www.ohsosweettreats.blogspot.com/
I ordered the Wheat Free Monkey(banana bread)for my sweet Fiona.I'm really glad that there are bakers out in the real world that also bake for those that need a special diet.

My New Orleans Trip Win!
New Orleans Trip :) report
I just came home from my trip win to New Orleans(Cookie Magazine - Families Making A Difference Sweepstakes)It was FANTASTIC!We felt like every time we turned around we were eating, and the food was so good.We stayed at the Loews Hotel which turned out to be within walking distance of just about everything. The city was clean and very friendly.
Day 1
We were met at the airport with a limo went to the Hotel to have them hold our bags until check-in time but they went ahead and checked us in early....absolutely no problems. We then walked around The French Quarter until time to have brunch with the CVB person at Antoines....definately a place to eat at if possible. We were given a gift basket of goodies and had the a song played just for us.We walk around some more before returning to our hotel to unpack, nap and wait for dinner. While resting our phone rang but I could'nt figure out how to answer it(duh moment)realized it had been the concierge...did not call to see what they wanted but I found out shortly because the hotel sent up another gift basket full of some of their most favorite things. We had dinner at the hotel at Cafe Adelaide...upon going into the restaurant we are greeted by name and congratulated as having been a sweepstakes winner.I am led to a chair that is decorated with balloons,my dh thought it was cute.Dinner was very good and I had already decided that I was going to have bread pudding for dessert.....did not happen as we were told that the CVB had arranged a special dessert for us...we had Bananas Foster for the first time ever, delightful! We were really made to feel special.
Day 2
We had breakfast across the street at Mothers.Good food and not too expensive. We were supposed to have had a carriage ride but chose not to since there was a tornado warning at the time....thunder,lightning,rain,wind would not have made for a good ride so we stayed in our room for a bit.Walked back to the FQ and had lunch at Cafe Beignet on Bourbon Street....interesting.Dinner was at Luke(Chef John Besh)...we were sat in front of the windows were you get to watch the food being prepared. We found the food very good and mostly affordable.I had some of the best bread pudding ever there and dh even tried it and liked it.
Day 3
We went to a Jazz Brunch at the Court of Two Sisters,OMG,this was sooooo yummy.I'd go back there to eat in a heartbeat if given the chance .We were scheduled to do our Volunteer project after brunch but were told to just enjoy the city instead. We did!We get to do a Dinner Cruise on the Steamboat Natchez for our evening meal.A long and enjoyable day.
Day 4
We went back to Mothers for breakfast(one of the few meals we actually paid for ourselves).Back to the FQ for a bit,go into a couple of museums in the Jackson Square area.Lunch was at The Gumbo Shop today, housed in a building dated 1795...cool.Rode the Charles Street Streetcar to the end of the line and back, fun.Had dinner at Mulate's,very affordable place. We also went to the Aquarium along with at least 2000 school kids,LOL.Needless to say,it was a very busy place.
Day 5
We have breakfast at Cafe Adelaide, yummy. This is the day we chose to visit The World War II Museum. This is a great place to check out.We then have lunch at Johnny's Po- Boy,another place we would go back to if given the chance.Tiny little hole in the wall but great food.Dinner was at Gordon Biersch tonight which we enjoyed very much.Since Harrah's is just across the street I go play for a bit .
Day 6
Time to pack up, .We again have breakfast at Cafe Adelaide.Finish packing and I go back across the street for a little more of Harrah's .We are picked up from the hotel by the same driver we had on Sun.Our flight home was somewhat of an experience...there were a group of drunks who made the flight very interesting...one of them was more or less baby sat by my dh who even had to fill out an incident report for the flight crew...this one guy even peed his pants .Now my dh is wanting to find out more about the effects of flying while intoxicated)
We truly had a most enjoyable trip.Only paid for 3 meals....everything else was covered, could not have asked for more. The sponsors....Cookie Magazine,Loews and the NOCVB were the best. The trip was all that I could have hoped for plus.We were treated very well and I hope to be able to visit New Orleans again. We came home pooped out tired but still elated.
